Mum-of-three missing for two years identified as remains found on rural trail

Remains found on rural trail have been identified as belonging to a mother-of-three who went missing more than two years ago.

Olivia Samantha Fowler, 26, was last seen by a Georgia ranger on August 13, 2021, walking on a remote road wearing a tie-dyed shirt, white shorts and black sandals.

In December 2022, human remains were discovered in a rural area of Meriwether County. DNA testing linked the remains to Fowler and authorities informed her family on Monday, 11Alive reported.

‘The family request that they be allowed to properly grieve this recent news and to be supportive of them during this difficult time,’ stated Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith on Tuesday.

‘The family would like the public to know that Olivia was not only a mother, but a daughter, a sister, a grandchild and an important member of the Fowler family.

‘This is a difficult time for them now and going forward. Please be respectful of their request.’

An investigation is ongoing.

‘There is still evidence to be analyzed and processed,’ stated Smith. ‘This case will now be classified from a missing person case to a death investigation.’

Fowler’s aunt Tamara McCoy previously said that her niece was dating a man around the time she vanished. McCoy put together ‘Olivia’s Army’ to search for her and the family hired a private investigator whom they paid by throwing car washes and other events.

‘Olivia loves family – loves, loves, loves her family,’ McCoy told 11Alive in 2021. ‘She’s a great mother with the biggest heart.’

The FBI joined the case in May 2022.

‘Maybe it will all come out eventually,’ Fowler’s sister Roxanne Fowler said at the time, according to Fox 5. ‘Maybe we’ll all get answers soon.’

Investigators have not named a suspect in her death.

Anyone with information on Fowler is urged to contact the sheriff’s office.
