Keane Harling, 16, was stabbed on Monday evening in Lambeth, south London, and, though emergency services dashed to the scene near Keane’s mum’s house, he died there. Heartbroken friends have shared their grief today, calling Keane “the most humblest person anyone could meet” and a “bubbly young boy”.

One pal told My London: “He was the most humblest person anyone could meet. He was the sweetest person.

“He wouldn’t hurt anybody. No matter who you were he would put you under his wing. He cared about everyone.”

The teen’s family, of Lambeth, were “in tears” as they visited the scene to lay flowers this morning.

Relatives are being supported by specialist officers.

Met Police haven’t made any arrests at this stage but forensic officers have been at the scene today.

People on social media fear London’s knife crime epidemic is ‘out of control’.

To date, 21 teenagers have died in homicides in London in 2021.

Across the whole of last year, 17 teenagers were killed in violent attacks in the capital.

One of Keane’s friends said he was “a bubbly young boy” who was “doing well for himself.”

And residents shared their shock at the tragedy.

One said: “I am so shocked.

“I was woken up in the middle of the night by a lot of shouting.

“I looked out my window and could see so many police.”

Keane’s death is the latest in a string of violent killings across the capital of late.

In Croydon, south London, a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed last week and a 15-year-old lad was killed in Hayes, west London, last month.

One young man also died after a stabbing in Streatham, south London, in June.

Pressure has mounted on Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, as a result of the spate of attacks. 

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “I am heartbroken and appalled by the deaths of two teenagers in our city.

“Every loss of life leaves a family and a community devastated. My thoughts remain with the victims’ family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“I am determined to do everything in my power to support the police and our communities to put an end to these horrendous crimes and keep our young people safe.”
