Mountain biker found dead near I'm a Celebrity castle

The body of a man has been found near the I’m A Celebrity… castle in North Wales.

He was found in woodland near Gwrych Castle just after 10am on Saturday.

The man was understood to have been on a mountain bike, but there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: ‘We were notified at 10.57am on Saturday, November 28, by the Welsh Ambulance Service.

‘The body of a man, who we understand had been on a mountain bike in woods off the Abergele Road was discovered.

‘He was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner has been informed.’

The man’s identity has not yet been revealed.

The news comes after two weeks ago a mum-of-two was killed while she was trying to take a picture of the castle.

Sharn Iona Hughes, 58, had travelled to Gwrych Castle, North Wales, to catch a glimpse of the set of the ITV programme.

But the charity volunteer, from Prestatyn, was struck by a car on a busy road and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Mrs Hughes’ family, who described the mother as ‘selfless’ and ‘kind’, urged others to take precaution if they also choose to visit the location of this year’s show.

In a statement, Mrs Hughes’ family and friends said: ‘Her curiosity led to her wanting to see the lights at Gwrych Castle which unfortunately led to her untimely tragic death along a very busy road. We are truly heartbroken.

‘She was hoping to take a photo and send it to a friend. We know that several others will have done and plan to do the same.

‘We urge people to take so much care and remember it is a busy main A class road.’

Since the tragedy, the single carriageway’s road has been reduced from 60mph to 30mph as fans continue to gather close to the castle.

Tributes flooded in for the ‘loving mother’, as she leaves behind husband Elfyn Hughes, who she was ‘devoted’ to, and her two children Arron and Annah.
