Montecito ‘not working out’ for Meghan and Harry as they eye up next move

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Montecito neighbourhood may “not be working out” for them, a royal commentator has claimed.

The royal couple snapped up a nine-bedroom house in Montecito for $14.65million (£11.32million) in 2020 after stepping down from royal duties and becoming financially independent.

But royal commentator Christine Ross has pointed out there couple be a reason behind the latest claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might move to Malibu.

They are said to be “casually house hunting” in Malibu after staying at a friend’s rental home over the past two summers.

She said on Us Weekly’s royal podcast: “It is interesting, we have heard several stories about them wanting to move somewhere new.

“I think Montecito is probably not working out for them for whatever reason.

“Sometimes you move to a neighborhood and you find it’s not for you.

“It will be interesting to see if we ever see that massive Montecito house actually sell and where they will end up.”

An insider previously told Us Weekly: “They love their life there but it feels a bit remote and removed from the city.”

They added the possibility of a move is “definitely on their radar”.

It comes as the couple have been warned to “turn the dial down” after their deal with Spotify ended after the podcast she hosted was not renewed for a second season.

Meghan and Harry’s production company Archewell Audio only made one podcast series for the streaming giant after signing a contract in late 2020, estimated to be worth around $25 million (£19.5 million).

The ending of the deal will raise questions about the popularity of the podcast hosted by Meghan and whether the agreement was value for money for Spotify which earlier this month announced job cuts.
