Monster crocodile snatches dog from water in front of horrified owner

Warning: Upsetting footage

The video shows the horrific moment a saltwater crocodile leaped out of the water and swallowed a dog whole.

In the footage, three dogs can be seen playing in Watson River, Queensland, Australia, on October 19.

Moments later, a crocodile jumps out the water and captures the pup in front of its helpless owner.

The two other dogs jump and bark while the owner yells in fear for them to get out of the water.

He sounds close to tears as he says ‘Oh no, Benny’.

Aurukun Indigenous Knowledge Centre shared the heart-breaking footage on social media.

Saltwater crocodiles are the world’s largest living reptiles.

The average male is 5m in length and weighs around 500kg.

They are able to spend days or even weeks drifting at sea and along rivers, possibly hunting for prey en route.

They typically feed on fish, mammals and birds but are capable of killing anything that comes in its way, even sharks and humans.
