Moment Tesco worker rifles through customer’s trolley and tries to grab phone

This is the shocking moment when a Tesco employee reportedly rifled through a customer’s trolley and grabs her phone out of her hand. A video shared by a TikTok user annemarieherridge3 appears to show a Tesco employee and a man in plain clothes going through her trolley.

The woman claimed that the incident happened at the Coventry Richo Arena. The user posted the video on the social media forum and wrote: “Go into Tesco to get a few bits that I needed for the next few days and to get some chicken for my dogs. I always use a scan as you shop with my Clubcard – I can then see my total and not have to worry about adding it up in my head.

“So check out costing me £101.06 go to walk out then get stopped by this man and a woman. She then tells me she needs to check my trolly, not a problem. But she walks off and this woman walks over and tries to snatch my phone out of my hand and tells me I’m not allowed to record them.”

In the video, the woman seems to be upset on why her trolley is being checked as she claimed that the Tesco employees have been “chasing” her down.

She said in the video: “What do you need to check for? You have been chasing me down as I have not paid for certain things.” The employee calmly continues to go through her things and responded: “We are here to check what you have, that’s it.

The employee continues shuffling through her trolley while the customer tries to understand the reason behind the move.

The woman then moved on to the man along with the Tesco employee and said: “Can I have your name please. You are going through my shopping, you are saying that you are a store detector but you have got no ID.”

At this time, the employee realises that she is being recorded and tells the TikTok user to stop doing it.

The Tesco employee said: “Are you recording? I have just been asked to come and speak to you. Please stop recording. It’s illegal.”

However, the woman who is not willing to bow down responded: “ Yes i am recording. You are chasing me down the aisle. I will not stop recording. I have paid for my items.”

The conversation took an ugly turn as the employee asked her colleague to call the police and immediately tried to snatch the customer’s phone out of her hand. Shocked by the incident, the customer replied: “You cannot take my property out of my hand.”

Express.co.uk understands that Tesco is investigating the incident.
