Moment son hits his mum with car and she goes flying as he flees cops

A man stuck his mother with his car and sent her into the air while trying to escape from cops.

Cops pursued a suspect just before 10am on Friday after he sped off when stopped for an undisclosed violation, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The man, identified as JaJuan Burley, 38, took cops on a high-speed chase winding up at his mother’s home on Winter Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 21ALiveNews reported. The pursuit started at Creighton Avenue and S Clinton Street.

A video recorded from across the street from the mother’s house shows a black sedan driving on the lawn and striking a woman in a red shirt, who goes flying a few feet in the air, feet first. A wail can be heard, though it’s not clear if it came from the woman or someone recording the video.

Burley stopped in front of the house and exchanged something with his mom before getting back into his car, cops said. His mother reportedly tried to go back into her home, when Burley suddenly rammed her.

The mother, identified as Juanita Gray, 57, refused medical treatment on site and is expected to be fine, according to cops.

In addition to hitting his mother, Burley grazed a police officer with his vehicle.

An officer shot at Burley during the ‘dangerous situation created by the suspect’ and struck him, cops said.

Both Burley and the officer are both expected to recover.

Burley has been charged with attempted murder, battery of a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, disarming and resisting arrest in a vehicle. There are also narcotics charges pending against him.

Gray was questioned and faces a charge of obstruction of justice.

Crime tape surrounded the home amid an ongoing investigation into the incident.
