A nine-year-old girl saved a boy who got his foot trapped in an escalator at a shopping mall in central China.

Footage shows the young girl running down to the emergency stop button as the boy’s foot became stuck in Wuhan City last week.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the boy’s right ankle stuck in the gap on the side of the escalator.

Maintenance workers had no choice but to dismantle the side of the escalator, whilst emergency services used a crowbar to widen the gap.

After ten minutes the boy was successfully freed, and his family took him to the hospital for an examination.

According to the boy’s mother, four children were riding the escalator that afternoon, but the boy’s right foot got caught in the escalator during the descent.

The nine-year-old girl was also able to shout for help after reaching the emergency stop button.

The boy’s right foot was only left swollen.

After examination at the hospital, it was confirmed that there was no serious damage.

Meanwhile at least 14 people were injured when an escalator unexpectedly reversed direction last month.

Security footage captured the moment an escalator at the bustling Sunae station in Bundang, South Korea went rogue during the Thursday morning rush-hour.

According to the Korea Herald, three individuals sustained serious injuries, while 11 others suffered minor injuries.

‘I thought people were filming a disaster movie after seeing so many people crowded around the fenced exit,’ a 68-year-old resident told the news outlet Korea JoongAng Daily.
