Michelle Obama shares her excitement for Meghan and Harry – ‘Its own little eternity’
The pair have forged a friendship in recent years, meeting up last year when Mrs Obama visited London during a tour to promote her new autobiography. Unsurprisingly, the candid interview touched on the arrival of Meghan and Harry’s new baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born on May 6. And Mrs Obama also reflected on the births of her own daughters, Malia, 21, and Sasha, 18.
Meghan asks her: “What is the most beautiful sound that you’ve ever heard?”
Mrs Obama said: “When Malia and Sasha were newborns, Barack and I could lose hours just watching them sleep.
“We loved to listen to the little sounds they’d make – especially the way they cooed when they were deep into dreaming.”
The Obama girls were aged just 10 and 7 respectively when they moved into the White House after their father’s presidential election victory over John McCain in 2008.
Prior to that, the family lived in Chicago, and Mrs Obama admitted things were not always easy.
She said: “Don’t get me wrong, early parenthood is exhausting.
“I’m sure you know a thing or two about that these days.
“But there is something so magical about having a baby in the house.
I’m so excited for you and Harry to experience that, Meghan – savour it all

“Time expands and contracts; each moment holds its own little eternity.
“I’m so excited for you and Harry to experience that, Meghan. Savour it all.”
The interview demonstrates the enduring bond between the Obamas and Harry and Meghan.
Mrs Obama’s husband and the Duke of Sussex also appear to hit it off, having spent time together at the Invictus Games in Canada in 2017.
On that occasion, Mr Obama is thought to have put Harry on the spot about his blossoming romance with Meghan.
Student Hayley Stover, who overheard the conversation, later told the Sunday Mirror: “Obama asked about Meghan and Harry let him know she had been to watch the tennis with him.
“He asked if she was enjoying the Games and Harry was really smiling as he said yes.
“He looked so happy. It was cute.”
