MI5 foil ‘terror attack’ on UK music festival ‘by ISIS-obsessed teenager’
British secret intelligence services and police have foiled a terror plot that aimed to unleash terror at a music festival which led to the arrest of a 15-year-old boy.
The teenager was thought to be planning an attack at the Isle of Wight festival attended by about 90,000 festival-goers every year.
According to claims made by the Sun, it is thought that the teen was “inspired” by Islamic State and had researched weapons online.
The Isle of Wight Festival is a British music festival that takes place annually in Newport. The festival stages have hosted bands in the past such as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kasabian, Robbie Williams and Coldplay – big names drawing in big crowds.

It comes after counter-terrorism police this week say they have disrupted 39 recent terror plots.
The Sun conducted an audit of court hearings which showed targets included a pride march and an attack on MPs. Many plots were planned by teens or young men.
A security source said: “The threat of a mainland terror attack of scale is still an active and live threat.”
He added: “Locations are carefully planned to cause maximum damage. Despite the rise of far-right extremism, it is Islamic-inspired terrorism taking up the most time.”

Another foiled plot involved a teenager who was jailed for life after targeting an army barracks and magistrates court.
Matthew King, 19, from Essex wanted to join the Islamic State in Syria and he had made videos of potential marine targets to kill.
King got a discretionary life sentence with a minimum term of six years after admitting the preparation of terrorist acts.
