Met Police crisis: ‘Underfunded and unworkable’ – Outraged officers condemn Sussexes
The Duke and duchess of Sussex’s security situation has been branded “unworkable” by experts after it was revealed that the couple’s cost could skyrocket to a staggering £20 million a year. The met police are reported to be struggling with major shortages on trained officers as the Sussexes pile on the pressure for double the amount of security.
A row has reportedly broken out about who will foot the bill to keep the Meghan, Harry and their young son Archie safe as they continue to live in Canada.
The couple, who will soon no longer be senior members of the Royal Family, could push costs to the extreme as they demand more protection from the cripplingly understaffed met police.
According to experts, the couple’s travelling lifestyle could cause a great deal of strain on the Met Police who are already “severely” lacking in trained officers.
The couple’s approach to security has become problematic, as the Sussexes continue to act as though ’the rules don’t apply to them’ according a met police expert.
Speaking to The Mirror, former Met protection officer Dai Davies, said their situation has called for a “complete ripping up of the rule book”.
“In their current state the plans are unworkable.
“There is already a severe lack of trained officers and this is only adding to the Met’s woes.”
The young couple have been splitting their time in a number of different locations over the last few months, attending events from Canada to Miami.

Officers are believed to be drafting new plans to double their protection team.
The couple’s current bill could soar to an eye-watering £20 million a year, sparking anger and a row over who will foot the bill.
However, an internal memo seen by The Mirror has revealed that there is a staffing crisis within the team that supports the Royals.
The memo revealed that Scotland Yard is facing increasing demand from the royal couple.

It calculated that estimations of £3m to £6m here annum were simply ’inadequate’ and that Harry and Meghan would need at least 12 protection officers, who each earn salaries of £106,000.
The memo is believed to have stated that the Met has been told to deliver the calculations to the Government and that costs could reach up to £20 million.
This comes after Meghan and Harry previously sparked fury after it was revealed they insisted the UK tax payer should still splurge on their safety.
This comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sparked major backlash over their actions following the Queen’s ban on the ‘Royal Sussex’ ban.
Royal author Robert Hardman discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s actions over the ‘Royal Sussex’ brand, with talkRADIO host Mike Graham.
Mr Hardman slammed the statement the couple released on Friday evening claiming the pair showed “bad manners”.
The royal expert also questioned the advice the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been given in dealing with the trademark conflict.
Mr Hardman said: “I think the one thing in that statement over the weekend that even their supporters are finding really difficult is this disrespect to the Queen.
“This extraordinary statement within this very long statement where they say actually it is not up to the Queen or the British Government who uses the word royal internationally, they have no jurisdiction.
“That is wrong in law, there are various international rules governing trademarks…but it is effectively saying that the Queen doesn’t own this issue anyway.
“I think given that the Queen has gone out of her way to make this transition for them as smooth and as relatively easy as possible I think it is bad manners.
“I would love to know who was advising them.”
