Meghan’s close pal hits out at GB News’ ‘years of unchecked abuse’ towards her
Meghan Markle’s social media return discussed by expert
Meghan Markle’s close friend has hit out over why GB News presenter Dan Wootton has not faced any sanctioning for his “torrent of abuse” against the Duchess over the years.
Mr Wootton has been suspended by the news channel after Laurence Fox, who has also been suspended, made derogatory comments about journalist Ava Evans on his evening show.
Photographer Misan Harriman, who is a close friend of Meghan’s, wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “He is now suspended but tell me how can this torrent of abuse can go unchecked for over a year against Meghan? How?”
Loose Woman presenter Denise Welch also leapt to Meghan’s defence on her X page, posting: “Much as I totally support what has happened over comments made about @AvaSantina it’s a shame the same actions weren’t taken over the disgusting, vile, misogynistic things said about Meghan Markle.”
Dan Wootton regularly dedicates a section of his evening show to the Sussexes, and he is often extremely critical of their ventures.

Although Mr Wootton has apologised for what happened on his show regarding Ms Evans, saying that he should have intervened, Mr Fox has insisted he stands by his comments.
He offered an apology to Ms Evans for making “demeaning” comments about her, after he asked what “self-respecting man” would “climb into bed” with her on GB News on Wednesday night.
However he reiterated that he had been angry about statements she had made about male suicide and said he felt she had a “dislike of men in general”.

It was revealed this week that Harry and Meghan enjoyed a secret romantic trip to Portugal to get away from it all, flying straight from Germany after the Invictus Games there ended earlier this month.
Portuguese media outlet Nova Gente reported that the couple had spent time in the village of Melides in the Alentejo region, possibly inspired by Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie.
Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank split their time between Portugal and the UK, with their European base close to where Harry and Meghan are thought to have stayed.
The magazine said: “After the Invictus Games finished, on Saturday September 16, the couple headed to our country for a lightning trip.
“In a mega-secret ‘operation’, and with the reserve that has characterized them since they abdicated their royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Harry preferred not to publicize, either through the press or through their social networks, this ‘romantic getaway’.
“They arrived in Portugal without their children and as soon as they landed, they headed to Alentejo and more precisely to Melides.”
