Before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, The Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a successful career as an actress and lifestyle blogger. From 2014 to 2017, Meghan ran a blog called ‘The Tig’, named after her favourite red wine.

On the blog, Meghan shared little snippets of her life along with recipes, beauty tips and reflections on feminism.

When she closed down the website in 2017, she said: “What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun, and frivolity.

“You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy.”

However, reports hold the Duchess has filed an application to reactivate ‘The Tig’ trademark name.

According to the Mail On Sunday, Meghan’s lawyers filed an application for the trademark back in July 2021.

Publicly available records showed Los Angeles lawyer Marjorie Witter Norman filed a new application.

Ms Norman filed the application under a Delaware-based holding company Frim Fram Inc, which links back to the Duchess’s business manager Andrew Meyer.

A similar application from Meghan filed in 2019 would have expired in 2021.

At the time her representative said: “The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her.”

Fans of the Sussex royal on Twitter rejoiced at the news Meghan’s blog could make a comeback.

User @akisoyoyo said: “Dear Meghan Markle, it’s time to bring back The Tig.”

Another user Daniel56748700 wrote: “Can’t wait. Look forward to her next project.”

Writing on the website, Meghan explained the story behind the ‘Tig’ name and said: “Several years ago I had a sip of wine called Tignanello (pronounced ‘teen-ya-nello’).

“But let’s be real – in the states most people said ‘tig-na-nello’…or just plain old ‘Tig.’ The Italiano of it all gets a little tricky, so the bartender kept it simple; it was a glass of ‘Tig.’

“So there I am, with very minimal wine knowledge and I take a sip of this wine. It wasn’t just red or white – suddenly I understood what people meant by the body, legs, structure of wine. It was an ah-ha moment at its finest.

“For me, it became a ‘Tig’ moment – a moment of getting it. From that point on, any new awareness, any new discovery or ‘ohhhhh, I get it!’ moment was a ‘Tig’ moment.”

It comes after the Sussex royals called out Spotify for hosting Covid “disinformation”.

Meghan and Prince Harry released a statement on Sunday which said: “Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked to address the real-time global misinformation crisis.

“Hundreds of millions of people are affected by the serious harms of mis- and disinformation every day.

“Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of Covid misinformation on its platform.

“We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis.

“We look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does.”

Meghan and Harry have a deal with Spotify worth a reported £18million for their exclusive podcast ‘Archewell Audio’.
