The first episode of Meghan’s podcast Archetypes dropped, exclusively on Spotify, on Tuesday. No official release date was ever announced, instead the producers said it would be available in “Summer 2022”. Speaking on the latest episode of their podcast, Royally Obsessed, hosts Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito dicussed how the Duchess of Sussexes’ podcast was “a long time coming” and how releasing it this late into the summer season was “really cutting it close”.

Ms Fiorito said: “It’s been two years since that big Spotify announcement that the Sussexes were partnering with the platform.

“This is a long time coming.”

She noted that the podcast was scheduled for a “late summer” release, adding that Meghan was “really cutting it close”.

Ms Fiorito also added the first episode dropped on the “first day of Virgo season”.

It was released near to the start of the US Open so the timing “couldn’t be more perfect” as Meghan’s guest was former tennis professional, and her friend, Serena Williams.

Ms Fiorito added that “it had to come out now”.

The pair also noted that Meghan has done “a lot of August things”, such as British Vogue and also, Meghan’s birthday on August 4.

Ms Fiorito also said that Finding Freedom was also released in August 2020.

She added that August “seems to be their season”.

The podcast episodes will focus on labels that “try to hold women back,” according to a news release.

It’s described as Meghan will “have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives,” the Duchess said in a preview of the podcast.

Shortly after their royal exit in 2020, Meghan and Harry signed a multi-million pound deal with Netflix.

Earlier this year, Netflix scrapped an animation series that Meghan was set to release.

It was abandoned amid the streaming giant’s ongoing financial struggles.

Meghan and Harry are due to fly to the UK next month, and according to a spokesperson, they will be visiting charities “close to their hearts”.
