Speaking on an episode of her podcast Archetypes, the Duchess of Sussex discussed her stint as a briefcase model on the US version of Deal or No Deal, where she often left with a “pit in my stomach” because of the beauty-based treatment she and other briefcase girls received. The former host of the show, Howie Mandel, however, mocked Meghan Markle’s comments as he jokingly claimed to also have been objectified as the main male on set.

Mocking Meghan, Mr Mandel said: “I get it because, and I’ve never said it before, but they had this pyramid of 26 beautiful intelligent women standing, staring at me like I was a piece of meat.

“I was in the centre, dressed up in a suit and I felt like, I am more than this.

“They would just look at me and I had to do nothing, I felt like such a, so I get it.”

He continued: “They just had me there to tell them to open up cases, I mean, I get it.

“I felt like nothing, and that’s why I moved on and became a judge on America’s Got Talent.

“I just needed more than to be a Deal or No Deal host.”

He went on: “For hours a day, 26 women, just staring at me like I’m a piece of meat.”

Ms Garibaldi laughed to Mr Mandel’s mock response to Meghan’s comments, asking if it was a “great workplace environment.”

After stating he thought it was “a great workplace environment”, he said he believes that Meghan was not “maligning” the former game show, but she was just speaking about “what was going on in her mind.”

“Listen, some people show up at an office and don’t feel good about it and decide to change careers”, he concluded.

So far, Meghan has released eight episodes of her high-anticipated podcast series.
