Meghan Markle’s “secret signal” to King Charles was likely “carefully planned”, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a 92-diamond tennis bracelet, a gift from the King before her marriage to Prince Harry, in her first public appearance since the release of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame reignited the “Royal race row”.

The former actress, 42, was spotted last Monday in Santa Barbara, near where she and Prince Harry live with their two kids.

Meghan was casually dressed, sporting trainers, a baseball cap and the diamond tennis bracelet she first wore at the Cliveden House Hotel on the eve of her Royal wedding.

Duncan Larcombe told New Magazine: “Wearing the bracelet wasn’t an oversight,” and “If someone gives you a present and you wear it publicly, it’s a little gesture – and in the world of the royals, little gestures often take on real significance.”

He further speculated: “It would’ve been carefully thought through, as some sort of secret message.”

Meghan’s gesture is seen as an attempt to mend fences with the Royal Family amidst the uproar caused by the new book, Endgame.

The book, written by Omid Scobie, co-author of Finding Freedom, has stirred controversy with its Dutch translation naming two senior royals who allegedly had “concerns” and “conversations” about Prince Archie’s skin colour before his birth.

In a chat with New Magazine, Duncan suggested that this new book has “probably set things back”, adding: “and I think that’s why Harry and Meghan are so keen to be distanced from it.”
