Meghan Markle’s mum CONFRONTS Duchess’ ex-husband on film exposing first FAILED marriage
Doria was asked by the Duchess to speak to her ex-husband Trevor Engelson about his plans to launch a television comedy about their failed relationship, according to The Sun. As a result, he later reportedly scrapped the idea. Last year, reports claimed that Trevor was working on a “divorce comedy” centred around the Royal Family.
Fox Studios has been reportedly developing a pilot for the story which is based on the premise: “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder.”
The plot was to be centred on the ex-husband of a British monarch struggling to share custody of their child.
The comedy was also being worked on by the executive producer of popular television series, Modern Family.
Meghan is said to have feared the comparisons to her marriage with Prince Harry, which would have mocked their royal romance on a weekly basis.
Doria has maintained a friendly rapport with the Duchess’s ex-husband and has successfully managed to convince him to drop the comedy.
Meghan and Trevor first got together in 2004 and then married in 2011.
He was a producer on some shows which include License to Wed, while she was appeared on legal drama Suits.
The couple then split in 2013 with a no-fault divorce.
However, author of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Andrew Morton claimed Meghan dumped Trevor “totally out of the blue” returning her wedding and engagement rings in the post.
According to one of his friends in the book, he was left feeling “like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe”.
Trevor is now working on hit Netflix film 13 Minutes and has re-married to dietitian Tracey Kurland last year.
It comes as Doria prepares to head to Windsor to welcome her grandchild.
The Duchess is expected to give birth either later this month or at the beginning of May.
