Meghan Markle: Palace 'worried about Oprah chat' says expert

Lindsay Roth, TV producer and actress, posted pictures of her and the Duchess of Sussex from their time at university and at her own wedding. It comes as Meghan and Prince Harry’s sit down chat with Ms Winfrey will air on CBS on Sunday.

Ms Roth said “goodwill runs in her bones” in the loving tribute to her friend, also sharing they have been friends for 22 years.

She said: “I have seen first hand how she treats her friends and their families, and her colleagues. ⁣

“If she’s driving with you in the passenger seat, she will fling her right arm in front of you at the slightest bump in a gesture of love to ensure your safety.

“If you have a specific goal, she will help you get there, and your passions will become hers on your behalf.

“If you ever have the pleasure of meeting Meg – and I hope more of you do – you will see the altruistic, magnanimous friend who I am so lucky to have in my corner. ”

The interview with Oprah will air in the US on Sunday and in the UK on Monday.

In a teaser released by broadcaster CBS, Ms Winfrey says: “I just want to make it clear to everybody there is no subject which is off limits.”

Another segment shows the famous chat show host asking Meghan: “Were you silent or were you silenced?”

Ms Winfrey adds: “You said some pretty shocking things here.”

Running through their shared history, Ms Roth said Meghan is “more than just a cover story”.

⁣The producer said: “She was this woman when we were students together at Northwestern University; she was this woman in Los Angeles when her days were spent auditioning.

“She was this woman living in Toronto as Rachel Zane on Suits; she was this woman before you knew she was dating Harry; she was this woman after you knew was dating Harry.

“She was this woman when she became Duchess of Sussex and she is still – without a doubt – this very same woman today.”

The pair met in a Toni Morrison literature class during their freshman year at Northwestern University in 1999.

In an interview with People in 2017, Ms Roth touted their long-distance friendship.

She said: “We’re the kind of friends who can be 3,000 miles away and still be talking about or thinking the same thing, and even texting each other the same thing at the same time miles away.”

She also said to the magazine Meghan is “still the same girl I met years ago, with the same values and priorities”.

She added: “She’s selfless, and that’s just a part of who she is and who she was raised to be.”
