Meghan Markle’s brother in Christening plea to Harry and Duchess – ‘enough is enough’
Thomas Markle Jr says he understands that it will take time for Meghan, 37, to forgive their father Thomas and the wider US family after a series of “betrayals”. But the 53-year-old added that it would be “wonderful” if a family reunion could take place at the christening of Archie, the first child of the Duchess and Prince Harry, who was born on May 6. Ex-glazier Mr Markle, right, said “time will tell” when asked if he expected to be invited.
He added: “I can’t say whether I’m going to be invited, you know, I can’t say if Meghan is going to say, ‘OK, enough is enough and, yes, I want my family back in my life’.
“That would be wonderful but I can’t answer that question. Of course we all want to be there, because that is a big deal.
“I’m on a personal crusade to better the family image right now and it’s going be a slow, long process.”
Although he is keen to present a more positive image of his family, Mr Markle says that he feels the royals have a share of the blame for his family’s poor relations with Meghan.
He said that while he had made some “appalling” mistakes, they were down to the pressure of him being in the limelight.
It comes just weeks after Meghan’s brother predicted the birth of Archie Harrison would “heal the rifts” with the family.
He said his father had been seriously hurt by the row and said there could be a reconciliation.
He said: “We’ve been dragged through the gutter long enough. It’s about time we get some peace in our lives.”
He added: “He wants his grandchild in his life and he wants Meghan back.”
Meghan has been accused of cutting off her family after becoming involved with Prince Harry in 2016.
Apart from mother Doria Ragland, none of Meghan’s family were at the wedding of the royals in Windsor Castle last year.
