Meghan Markle’s brother exposes ‘extremely surprising’ reason why she decided to ditch UK
Meghan Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr explained the shock reason behind her “extremely surprising” decision to ditch the UK after just two years. Thomas Markle Jr said that Meghan Markle could have left because she “does not like to be controlled,” and “wants her own way”. The 54-year-old relative spoke to Australian morning show Sunrise earlier this week, where he also admitted he still feels betrayed about Meghan disowning his family.
The Duchess of Sussex, 38, stunned the world earlier this month when she and husband Prince Harry announced they were stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family.
They are both now residing in Canada and spending time with their son Archie.
Speaking from Grants Pass, Oregon, Mr Markle Jr remarked that his half-sister’s decision was “a sign of modern times”.
He said he would support Meghan’s decision to leave the Royal Family if it was down to “two people in love wanting to live their lives”.

However, he called Meghan Markle’s decision to disrupt years of tradition “a little bit insulting” and revealed what could be behind the shock royal move.
Mr Markle Jr said: “It could be Meghan wanting her way and not wanting to live under anybody’s control.
“Then it could be her and Harry wanting to go off and be private and not be bothered by any responsibilities except for their own.”
The estranged half-brother of the Duchess of Sussex has previously been critical of his sister’s efforts to distance herself from her relatives in the media, but he told Sunrise that he would “always love her”.
Mr Markle Jr explained: “She is my sister and I always loved her. We had a great upbringing, we had a pretty good childhood.
“It’s like my father said, ‘I don’t recognise this person in my daughter anymore’, and neither do I and the rest of the family.
“I don’t believe in some of her actions as far as disowning her family and saying we don’t exist when we’ve given her a great childhood and upbringing.
“But like I said, I do love her, she is my sister. I feel a bit betrayed being shoved off to the side like I don’t exist like the rest of the family.”

He added: “There’s one thing that really did bother me, right at the wedding when my father became ill and he actually had a heart attack.
“I was very surprised and very hurt that she didn’t reach out to him and make sure he was okay and actually go visit him – so that gave me a little bad taste in my mouth about the subject, I didn’t recognise that person.”
This comes amid news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to pay for their own security if they are commercially successful, in a model echoing Tony Blair’s own arrangements.
A source told the Daily Telegraph said the couple planned to reimburse the taxpayer for security provided on private business engagements with no royal connection.
