Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have openly shared about their early romance on their Netflix show and in Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare.
The Duke even disclosed the moment he realised Meghan was ‘the one’ after observing her behaviour.
Their first date didn’t start smoothly as Harry was late due to heavy traffic but as soon as they ordered their drinks and started chatting, they both felt a special connection.
In his memoir, Harry shared that he was instantly impressed by Meghan’s confidence to lead their initial dates.
Meghan was only in London for a short while, having flown in to watch Wimbledon, and was set to return home in a few days. After chatting on Instagram, they decided to meet in person, knowing they had limited time.

Harry, aware of the security issues surrounding him and the potential media frenzy if they were seen together, suggested Meghan come to his Kensington Palace home.
His invitation was not well received, resulting in a blunt four-word response from his future wife.
Meghan was taken aback when Harry suggested their first date be at his house, responding with: “I don’t think so”.
Harry quickly clarified his intentions, saying: “No, I didn’t mean it like that”. He tried to explain the need for privacy but admitted he didn’t do a great job.
They finally agreed on a secret rendezvous at Soho House, a private members’ bar known for its discretion.
As they shared in their Netflix show, Harry and Meghan, the meeting was brief but enjoyable.

Meghan called Harry later that night to clarify her quick departure was due to other commitments, not because she didn’t have a good time.
She recalled on the show: “I called him that evening and I was like ‘I’m leaving the day after tomorrow, do you want to grab dinner tomorrow night?’
“And I’m sure he thought it was so forward and American. I’m sure he told me it was so forward and American.”
They planned a second date the next night, returning to Soho House for dinner. It was during this date that they decided to pursue their relationship, even taking a photo to commemorate the moment.
Meghan reminisced: “There was one photo. We just wanted to capture the feeling of just sitting in that little restaurant and going ‘Oh my gosh. We were going to give it a go.'”
Harry had a moment of realisation about Meghan, sharing: “That was when it just hit me. I was like, OK, this girl, this woman, is amazing, is everything that I’ve been looking for. And she’s so comfortable and so relaxed in my company.”
