Omid Scobie, a journalist and writer whose 2020 book “Finding Freedom” covers Harry and Meghan’s marriage and move to the United States, claimed the couple would be together to celebrate the Queen’s huge milestone next year. He added: “I would imagine that next year during the Queen’s Jubilee, we will see both Harry and Megan supporting the Queen.

It comes after he denied initial reports that Meghan was planning to attend the statue unveiling of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Harry and Prince William are due to attend the July 1 ceremony in the gardens of Kensington Palace, unveiling a statue they commissioned to mark what would have been their mother’s 60th birthday.

But the writer stressed Meghan’s attendance was “never on the cards” despite a report in the US claiming that she would.

The Duchess gave birth to the couple’s second child Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor earlier this month.

The US biographer also said the unveiling of a new statue next month of the late royal could help “thaw frosty ties” between her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

Speaking at a Foreign Press Association event today in London, Mr Scobie added: “The event will demonstrate that both of them are able to be cordial and respectful when it comes to remembering the life of their mother, despite their differences”.

The brothers who were once really closely studied together at Britain’s elite Eton school and both served in the military.

But they both become distant since Harry’s marriage to Meghan and the couple’s move to California.

However, Mr Scobie said the brothers showed some signs of rekindling at Prince Philip’s funeral in April, referring to their conservation after the funeral of their grandfather, Queen Elizabeth II’s late husband.

The US royal expert also stressed the brothers’ meeting in July could remind them “how well” they work together to preserve the legacy of their mother, who was killed in a Paris car crash in 1997.

He concluded: “Maybe that will be the icebreaker that is needed.”

Mr Scobie is often seen as an unofficial spokesman for the couple, although he denies this, insisting he simply has very good sources and is very close to the couple.

Mr Scobie is also sympathetic to Harry and Meghan, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in the book he co-authored with fellow journalist Carolyn Durand.

Fellow veteran Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk he hoped a “healing process” between the brothers would begin as a result of the unveiling.

He added: “Diana would have wished her sons to be on the same road rather than different paths.”

Royal sources would not be drawn to Mr Scobie’s remarks tonight about a meet next year and simply said: “Any arrangements will be discussed and announced in due course.”
