Meghan “just wants to go back to Hollywood” and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ decision to step back as senior royals could be linked to her desire to work once again in the film industry, her half-brother believes. Asked why does he think the Sussexes have taken the extreme decision to abandon their role within the Royal Family, Mr Markle told Express.co.uk: “I think she just wants to go back to Hollywood.” 

Mr Markle, also asked whether he believes Meghan and Harry’s bombshell announcement regarding their intention to step back as senior royals was “part of a plan”, added: “Who’s to say?

“But it comes down to the question: who does that?

“Who just goes in there and turns things upside down and takes off or convinces Harry to do it… or it’s a mutual decision.

“I think I said it once before, maybe they are just madly in love and want to go off and raise their son all by themselves.” 

This comes months after Prince Harry was spotted praising Meghan’s ability to do voice overs to Disney’s CEO Robert Iger.

The Duke of Sussex was filmed speaking to the Disney chief on the night of the European premiere of The Lion King in July.

Harry said: “You know she does voice-over,”.

Mr Iger responded: “Oh, really? I did not know that.” 

The Duke of Sussex continued: “You seem surprised. But yeah, she’s really interested.”

Months later, in January, The Times newspaper claimed Meghan signed a voice over deal with Disney.

However, according to the newspaper, the Duchess of Sussex isn’t going to cash in on her work, as Disney has allegedly agreed to donate her wage to Elephants Without Borders, an organisation close to Meghan and Harry’s hearts that helps to track and protect the animals from poaching.

This deal, if true, would cast a light on how Meghan and Harry may try to use their celebrity status to help charitable causes and organisations.

Mr Markle appeared to think Meghan is “attracted” to A-listers and the Hollywood world.

He continued: “I see her back in Hollywood one way or the other.

“I think anything that has to do with Hollywood especially George Clooney and big A-list people in Hollywood is attractive to her.”

Speaking about a possible career in Hollywood, Meghan’s half-brother added: “Now she would be just given more opportunity I think, with being who she was. 

“So I think it might open a few more doors for her.

“She will get some good movie roles she will do alright.”

Meghan and Prince Harry announced their intention to step down as senior royals with a statement published on their Instagram platform and newly-launched website, SussexRoyal.com.  

The pair initially wanted to “carve out a new progressive role” within the Royal Family, which would have allowed them to represent the Queen around the world while also pursue private financial ventures. 

However, the Sussexes accepted much limited terms, which will see them no longer being able to carry out royal engagements, use their HRH styles and keep their current brand name, Sussex Royal.

The Sussexes commented on the Queen’s decision to bar them from carrying our royal duties highlighting in their last, lengthy statement that this wasn’t their “preference”.

He said: “The preference of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex was to continue to represent and support Her Majesty The Queen albeit in a more limited capacity, while not drawing on the Sovereign Grant.

“While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place.”
