Meghan Markle: Why royal fans will have to wait DAYS after baby’s birth for news

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, is due to give birth this month and excitement has been growing over the newest addition to the royal family. But royal followers will have to wait a bit longer for an update on the tot, who will be seventh in line to the throne. In a statement released today, Meghan and Harry’s household said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.

“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.

“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Speculation is mounting that Meghan could opt for a home birth at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

Earlier this week, an insider told the Daily Mail: “It is her favoured choice but it obviously depends on how things are nearer the time.”

The US-born former actress has reportedly appointed a female doctor to lead her delivery team over the Queen’s doctors Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston.

It is understood that there will be a smaller role for the two gynaecologists, who attended the births of all three of Prince William and Kate’s children.

The 37-year-old is said to have rejected giving birth at the exclusive Lindo Wing due to privacy concerns.

Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey is close to the Sussexes’ new home and it had been suggested Meghan would follow in the Countess of Wessex’s footsteps by giving birth there.

And Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, predicted Harry’s wife could chose an American-owned hospital like The Portland.

The royal baby is due this month or in early May but the exact date has been kept secret.
