Royal author Angela Levin, who wrote a biography on the Duke of Sussex, said Harry told her he “went into great detail about the restrictions and obligations” of being a member of the Royal Family to the Duchess of Sussex. Ms Levin’s comments come after former Suits actress Meghan told Oprah Winfrey that she “went into it naively”.
Ms Levin tweeted: “Harry told me he went into great detail about the restrictions and obligations.”
But royal expert Robert Jobson insisted Harry should have better prepared Meghan for being a royal.
Mr Jobson told Page Six: “It’s a combination of Harry and Meghan’s fault, mainly Harry for not explaining it to her properly.
“He’s not the sharpest guy, but maybe he didn’t want to explain it.
“It’s hard work being a member of the Royal Family. People think it’s not but it is.
“It’s not glamorous and maybe she didn’t fancy that after at all.”
Mr Jobson suggested Meghan should have done more research on the royals.
He said: “It’s up to you to do your own homework if you want to marry into a prestigious family.”
The royal author added that top royal aide Samantha Cohen was enlisted to help Meghan.
But he claimed the ex-actress struggled with her place in the royal order.
He said: “When she saw that she had the little house and William and Kate were the number one couple, she probably didn’t understand that and thought, ‘Well, we can do better than this and start commercializing the royal family,’ well, frankly, that’s not acceptable.”
Mr Jobson insisted the Royal Family is “service and helping others”.

He continued: “It’s not to do with helping yourself. I’m afraid that’s what’s happened here.
“I blame Harry, really, because he knew the story but he wanted his cake and to eat it and you can’t do that.”
Meghan and Harry quit royal duties – a move dubbed Megxit – in March 2020 for a new life of personal and financial freedom in America.
The Sussexes, who are expecting their second child, have settled into a mansion in California with their young son Archie.
And they have signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify as they carve out new careers across the pond.
The couple plunged the royals into crisis last month with their controversial TV interview.
Meghan told Winfrey: “I went into it naively because I didn’t grow up knowing much about the Royal Family.
“It wasn’t something that was part of conversation at home, it wasn’t something that we followed.”
