Meghan Markle to take Baby Archie to US – ‘hands-on grandma’ Doria wants to help

Meghan Markle will be taking her son Archie Harrison to the United States to have the baby spend more time with his grandmother Doria Ragland, according to Juliet Ridden. Speaking shortly after the birth of the youngest member of the Royal Family, Ms Ridden claimed the Duchess of Sussex will travel to the US “often” to ensure Archie and his grandmother have a good relationship. Speaking to the podcast The Windsors, the royal commentator said: “I’m sure Baby Sussex will be going to America quite soon after birth – this is normal in every other family, that the baby gets taken to the grandparents often.

“I’m sure that will be the case for Baby Sussex.”

Ms Ragland travelled to Britain shortly before Archie’s birth to offer her support to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during the last few days of Meghan’s pregnancy but returned to her home in Los Angeles a week after the arrival.

The royal commentator suggested the doting grandmother will return to the United Kingdom to visit Archie and his parents but said the former social worker is not expected to move to Britain.

She continued: “I’m sure Doria will be a very hands-on grandma, I’m sure she will want to help a lot.

“Whether she’ll be moving in is another matter. She’s got her own life – she lives in America, she’s got her own job – so it’s not like she can throw everything up in the air.

“And it’s not like Meghan needs her, too, either. I’m sure we will see Doria coming over a lot more.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are believed to be planning to travel often, with commentators suggesting in March the couple was working with Buckingham Palace to briefly relocate to Africa.

The Sunday Times in April reported the Palace is seeking to design a “bespoke role” for the royal couple to combine their work on behalf of the Commonwealth along with charity work and a role promoting the UK.

But royal commentator Rob Shuter claimed Meghan Markle has rejected the plan and has instead moved her attention to her home country.

Citing royal sources, Mr Shuter said: “Sources tell me within the Royal Family there’s been a lot of talk about Prince Harry and Meghan temporarily moving to Africa but that isn’t going to happen became Meghan is planning to return to America with her baby and her prince.

“Sources add moving away from William and Kate Middleton is the goal.”

Meghan Markle and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge have been facing much scrutiny over reports of an ongoing feud between them. However, experts have dismissed rumours of a break between the two duchesses and speculated Prince William and Prince Harry are at the heart of the alleged split.

Royal author Katie Nicholl suggested the brothers had a fall-out because of the Duke of Cambridge urging his younger brother to be cautious when his relationship with Meghan Markle became serious.

The now Duke of Sussex met the former actress in July 2016 and by November of the following year, the two were already engaged.

Following their wedding in 2018, Meghan and Harry lived in a private apartment at Kensington Palace neighbouring Kate and William’s but relocated shortly before the birth of their son Archie Harrison on May 6, 2019, to Frogmore Cottage.
