Meghan Markle “may live to regret” her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, which caused a PR crisis for Buckingham Palace with its revelations. According to royal experts, the Duchess spoke when she was angry and upset towards the Royal Family, and will soon regret that her interview “is there for posterity”.
Speaking to the Channel 5 documentary ‘Meghan at 40’, Ashley Pearson said: “Some people might wonder whether or not Meghan may live to regret all of the revelations in the Oprah interview.
“Oprah herself said later she was surprised that Meghan said some of the things she did.”
Meghan’s wide-ranging interview with Oprah aired on March 7, 2021, and detailed her and Prince Harry’s reasons for leaving the Royal Family.
Royal author Tom Quinn continued: “I think the problem with Meghan is that she’s angry, she’s upset. I think she thought when she entered the Royal Family that she could shake them up and they’d love it, they would do things Meghan’s way.
“When that didn’t happen and she came up against what she sees as the forces of reaction, it made her so upset that that interview was her way, and I think the only way she could see, to get her revenge and put the case as she saw it.
“I think later on she’ll think ‘I shouldn’t have burnt my bridges’ to that extent.”
Royal journalist Emily Andrews also added: “Don’t forget, the only member of family that she really sees is her mother Doria.
“She doesn’t see any of her father’s family and Archie and Lilibet will grow up without seeing any of their cousins.
“I think perhaps she may regret being quite so public with that Oprah interview, because that is there for posterity, that is there forever.”
Revelations in the interview included the Royal Family ignoring the couple’s mental health, denying their son a title and senior aides at Buckingham Palace refusing to correct damaging tabloid articles about the Duchess.
Meghan revealed that she had been left feeling suicidal whilst she was pregnant.
She also addressed the rumours of a rift with Kate and stated that it was in fact Kate who had made her cry in a dispute over flower girl dresses.
This was used as an example of the tabloids vendetta against the Duchess of Sussex and the Palace’s refusal to interefere in stories.
The most damaging allegation however, was that an unnamed senior member of the Royal Family had made a racist remark about the skin tone of their unborn child.

Following the interview, Buckingham Palace released a statement to say: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
