Meghan Markle slated for prioritising ‘Brand Meghan’ over royals – ‘Her job is Britain!’
Meghan Markle on Monday confirmed she worked with Vogue staff for the past seven months as a guest editor for the magazine’s September issue. The Duchess of Sussex has however come under fire over her decision to feature 15 pioneer women in the publication, with commentator Carol Malone claiming Meghan has not been promoting the Royal Family. Speaking to Jeremy Vine on 5, Ms Malone said: “I think her job is to promote Britain and that’s why she gets to live in big free houses and gets free travel and all the rest of it.
“She’s mentioned 15 so-called trailblazers in Vogue – most of them we’ve never heard of – and only five of them are British.
“She’s promoting brand Meghan, not the Royal Family and that is her job.”
Ms Malone, who previously criticised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry over their demands for privacy, also branded as “hypocritical” the decision to share details of her personal life in the publication while still urging the public to respect her privateness.
The commentator continued: “This is a woman who constantly bleats about invasion of her privacy and yet she puts everything she thinks and believes in this magazine.

What evolved over the next hour was a promising pow wow of two like-minded thinkers

“I think that’s hypocrisy on a grand scale. She has been on covers of big magazines as well, she was on the cover just before she was married.”
The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her collaboration with the magazine in the editor’s letter for the September issue of Vogue. In the letter, Meghan revealed she began working with the publication as early as January after getting in touch with editor-in-chief Edward Enninful.
She wrote: “What evolved over the next hour was a promising pow wow of two like-minded thinkers, who have much in common, including our love of writing.
“Over a steaming cup of mint tea, we teased through how one can shine a light in a world filled with seemingly daily darkness. Lofty? Of course. Worth it? Without question.”

The Duke and Duchess have however experienced issues in the past due to their attempts to maintain a low-profile despite their prominent roles within the Royal Family.
Meghan in particular sparked a furious reaction among the public after it was revealed security officers had asked Wimbledon attendees not to take pictures of the Duchess while she was attending a match as she was appearing in a “private capacity.”
Public relations expert Anthony Burr called on the couple to act quickly to heal the rift their demands for privacy had caused with the public.
Mr Burr told Express.co.uk: “It’s not as bad as having to press the reset button but they need to work hard on repairing the damage.

“Firstly, Meghan needs to stop acting like a celebrity who starred on TV and begin the process of learning to be a Duchess.
“But she can’t do it alone, she needs help mostly from her husband, who knows how this works better than anyone.
“It just seems that at the moment his priority is to make sure that his new wife is as happy as she can be in her new surroundings and that with a new baby, she is not stressed out. This is understandable.
“Yet, he also needs her to appreciate that Royal Family members are the most public figures in the country, if not the world.
“If you want the splendours of the royal life, you have to make sacrifices… and privacy is top of that list of sacrifices.”
