The Duchess of Sussex has taken fresh blows after she claimed in her Archetypes podcast that her reputation for being demanding was down to society’s “angry black woman trope”. However, a royal commentator has claimed the real reason she is disliked by some has “nothing to do with colour of her skin”.

In the latest episode of her podcast ‘Archetypes’, Meghan Markle called out the “angry black woman trope”. The podcast explores different labels placed on women. During the episode she stressed that there was a difference between being “difficult” and being “clear”, calling herself “particular”.

“You’re allowed to set a boundary, you’re allowed to be clear. It does not make you demanding, it does not make you difficult. It makes you clear,” the Duchess added.

However, Royal commentator Caleb Bond slammed her comments in a column for Sky News Australia, blaming Meghan’s perceived reputation on her supposed actions rather than her “ethnicity”.

“The Duchess of Dreary has claimed her reputation as a demanding person comes down to the ‘angry black woman trope’. Maybe such a perception is not because of her ethnicity, but because she’s a thoroughly dislikeable person,” Bond wrote.

He added: “Everyone else is usually to blame. Any excuse can be deployed, anyone can be thrown under the bus – so long as they can maintain the self-delusion that they are perfect in every way. Meghan Markle has become an expert in this field.”

In the scathing column, Bond alleges that Meghan signed up for royal duties without knowing how taxing they would be, before moving to the US for some “quote-unquote privacy”.

Meghan Markle has been called “difficult” following reports that some of her staff allegedly quit due to her demands while she was working in the Firm.

During her most recent podcast, the Duchess revealed that she was 43 percent Nigerian, however Bond claims this has nothing to do with how she is perceived.

He said: “The fact she’s demanding and difficult and generally disliked by a great deal of the world’s population has nothing to do with her skin colour.

“It’s because she is demanding and painful – an unfortunate trait of many celebrities who forget who made them famous. That, of course, is the rest of the world.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed deals with Spotify and streaming giant Netflix – the latter of which is reportedly worth a staggering $100 million dollars.

Meghan’s Archetype series is part of the deal with Spotify while Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have been working on a docuseries for Netflix.
