Meghan Markle shock: The one item Meghan will definitely pack for South Africa trip

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on their Instagram page – SussexRoyal – that they will be travelling to South Africa in the autumn. The couple were asked to visit at the behest of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and said they were “excited” by the opportunity. On the trip, Harry will make short additional solo stops to Malawi, Botswana and Angola.

The couple will be staying for a few days, according to the British High Commissioner to South Africa, Nigel Casey.

It is thought they will be taking baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on the visit, adding to their Instagram post: “This will be their first official tour as a family!”

This will make Archie the youngest royal baby to go on an official tour, as if they travel in October the youngster will be around five months old. 

No official dates have been revealed as yet but Archie will turn five months old on October 6, 2019.

What is the one item Meghan will definitely pack for the trip?

According to Meghan’s now-deleted blog The Tig, the one item she always packs when travelling is tumble dryer sheets. 

On her blog, she recommended layering the sheets between items like shirts, skirts and dresses.

Meghan wrote: “Your clothes will smell fresh when you arrive — and especially when you return home.”

Tumble dryer sheets are an inexpensive item to include on your packing list, as they cost as little as £1.80 for a pack of 40 from supermarkets.

Their main function is to go into the tumble dryer with wet washing to leave it smelling nice once it is dry, and they come in a variety of scents. 

However, cleaning gurus have also touted their effectiveness in other ways with social media sensation, Mrs Hinch, placing them inside pillow and cushion covers to keep them smelling fresh. 

Mrs Hinch – real name Sophie Hinchcliffe – posts cleaning tips to her 2.6 million followers and uses tumble dryer sheets in multiple ways.

She also wipes her blinds and other surfaces with them, as they can pick up dust and reduce static. 

Mrs Hinch explained on her Instagram story: “The reason I use tumble dryer sheets is because they’re anti-static so they pick up all the dust. 

“You don’t need to wet them or do anything. 

“Once you’ve wiped every slat and all the dust is off, put a capful of neat Zoflora onto a sheet of kitchen roll folded into four, and rub this onto your blinds. It just leaves the Zoflora, heavenly.”
