Meghan Markle shock: Secret message behind Duchess’ Diana-inspired Canada visit revealed
Prince Harry returned to royal duties for his first public appearance since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, announced their decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the Royal Family. The Duke of Sussex hosted the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draw at Buckingham Palace and met representatives from 21 nations taking part. Sky News presenter Colin Brazier offered commentary on the royal’s return, as well as the hidden messaged behind the Duchess’ charity work in Canada, which is straight from Princess Diana’s “playbook”.
He said: “Meghan was yesterday pictured at a women’s refuge in Vancouver.
“She’s made briefly her home on Vancouver Island for six weeks or so.
“Flew out there by seaplane, attended that event in Vancouver itself.
“Some royal commentators perhaps detecting a bit of the Diana, Princess of Wales, playbook.”
Mr Brazier continued: “Not issuing a statement necessarily, but letting the camera tell a story for those inclined to take a sympathetic view of her, in quote ‘plight’, depending on your point of view.
“This is increasingly a subject that divides opinion.
“But appearing at a women’s refuge, there was a sense from some royal commentators that that was a reminder of how Princess Diana would sometimes pose for pictures and let the headline writers compose a story.
“By placing herself in effectively a women’s refuge, perhaps the Duchess of Sussex was trying to say something about the condition in which she finds herself.”
The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William sat down with Prince Harry at Sandringham to thrash out the couple’s future.
Her Majesty issued a statement following the talks, saying that she was “entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life”.
There are still questions over the financial settlement and how the Duke and Duchess are going to maintain “financial independence”.

The Queen’s statement read: “Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.
“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.
“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.
“These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
