Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle appearance in a video for the VAX live concert has sparked new theories on her upcoming child’s name. During the clip, Meghan said she and her husband Prince Harry were overjoyed at the prospect of having a second child. Many fans took to scrutinising Meghan’s red dress, which was covered in poppies, to insist it was a clue on what her daughter would be called.

One fan wrote: “During the broadcast, Meghan was seen wearing an absolutely gorgeous Carolina Herrera tie waist shirt dress.

“It was covered in… poppies. Poppy? What do we think?

“I have always loved the name and think it could be a perfect fit, given the backstory of the distinctive red flower.

Another royal fan wrote: “The poppy is a symbol of remembrance and hope.

“It is often worn to show support for the service and sacrifice of the armed forces, veterans and their families across the UK.

“Given Prince Harry’s ties to the military, the name Poppy would be incredibly fitting.”

Other social media users argued Meghan may not be hinting at baby names but rather a nod to her home state.

They wrote: “So the golden poppy is the official state flower of California.

“But I’d like to think Meghan Markle is representing and showing some California love to her home state by wearing that poppy dress.”

Another added: “It just occurred to me that Meghan’s poppy dress gave a huge nod to where she and Harry are, California.

“She wore the California poppy when she married Harry and she had CW flowers and poppies embroidered in her veil.

During the Vax Live concert clip, Meghan said: “My husband and I are thrilled to be welcoming a daughter.

“It is a feeling of joy that we share with millions of other families around the world.

“When we think of her, we think of all the young women and girls around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”
