In a comment piece written for the Mail Online, Mr Morgan accused the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex of “expressing themselves in such a brazenly partisan manner”. He added that the coupled have “crossed a massive line which should now have serious consequences for the couple who specialise in wanting their royal cake and the freedom to eat it.

“The Royals don’t do politics. Not publicly, anyway.”

His comments come after the coupled released a video message via Time magazine on Tuesday commenting on the upcoming US election.

Meghan said: “We’re just six weeks out from Election Day and today is National Voter Registration Day.

“Every four years we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime. But this one is.”

She added: “When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard.

“Your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do, and you deserve to be heard.”

Prince Harry also urged Americans to vote, despite his status as a royal preventing him from voting in UK elections.

He said: “As we approach this November, it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity.

“When the bad outweighs the good, for many, whether we realise it or not, it erodes our ability to have compassion and our ability to put ourself in someone else’s shoes.

“Because when one person buys into negativity online, the effects are felt exponentially. It’s time to not only reflect, but act.”

But Mr Morgan countered the couple’s choice to call for voters to exert their right, explaining that one of the “cast-iron rules of being a member of the Royal Family – that you don’t spout off your own political opinions for public consumption because it would damage the integrity of the Monarchy”.

The presenter, who is a long-standing critic of the couple, has repeatedly called for them to be stripped off their royal titles following their decision to step back from their royal duties.

Last month, he hit out at the Duchess in a similar way over a video in which she is seen urging Americans to vote.

He shared the clip showing Meghan warning “we all know what’s at stake this year” in the US election and wrote: “The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles.

“They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way.”

In defence of the Duchess, a Twitter user wrote: “She is still a US citizen and has every right to say whatever the hell she wants.

“She was born her and has the right to speak about elections if she chooses.

“This isn’t the UK we don’t have royals here.

“You really think you can tell a US citizen what she can and cannot do…”

In response, a Twitter user who shared Mr Morgan’s views, said: “Yes she’s an American citizen, but she married into the Royal Family and took the title of a Duchess.

“She must remain out of politics to keep the Royal Family’s integrity in place and she knew this before she married into it.

“She must stop or be stripped of her titles. Agreed.”
