Meghan Markle, 40, had to delete her public Instagram account and blog, The Tig, when she joined the Royal Family. The Duchess of Sussex is said to have “really struggled with the removal”, royal expert Neil Sean claimed. Since stepping down from duties, Meghan has stepped back into the spotlight by speaking out on a range of topics.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Mr Sean said: “Meghan really struggled with the removal of her social media.

“She really liked to interact on that and she also had The Tig blog.

“The big problem was that she wasn’t allowed to have a very political voice.

“Harry did try and explain the reasons that politics and royalty do not mix.

“As we all know, the royals are not allowed to vote or speak about current Government policies.

“Meghan spoke to quite a few people at length over how and why she wasn’t allowed a political voice.

“This all makes perfect sense moving forward when Meghan, as soon as she left, quickly decided to get involved in debates and activism.”

It comes as Meghan took it upon herself to lobby Republican politicians to include paid parental leave and a climate policy by the US Government.

Meghan and Harry going to Canada seemed 'an extraordinary slight'

The Duchess of Sussex called Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Susan Collins on a withheld number and told them who she was when they answered.

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich hit out at the Duchess of Sussex for getting involved in politics while using her title.

Speaking to Dan Abrams on Newsnation, Ms Fordwich said: “Prince Harry obviously can’t control his wife because he knows very well you can’t be a renegade royal over here in the US because you’re breaking centuries of the royals staying out of politics.

“Not just American politics, all politics.”

It has since been reported Meghan is expected to make more of these calls.

Access Hollywood reported: “These won’t be the only calls Meghan Markle makes.

“Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand from New York was the one that gave Meghan the numbers to the US Senators.

“She wants to be part of working group to work on paid leave long term and she’s going to be.

“Whether this comes to fruition now or later, she’ll be part of a group of women that hopefulyl will work on paid leave together.”
