Meghan Markle: Piers Morgan blasted for ‘obsession’ with duchess – ‘GET OVER IT!’
Mr Morgan, the Good Morning Britain presenter, hit out at Meghan, branding her “fake” and a “hard-nose social climber” who uses people to get what she wants. However, royal fans were quick to blast the TV man for his scathing remarks against the Duchess, insisting he needs to let go of the rejection. One user wrote on Twitter: “Do we think Piers has a real fixation problem for Meghan? The man is besotted.”
Another wrote: “Why won’t you let it go about Meghan? You met her once for a drink, you spoke to her on social media, hardly makes her an old friend. Of course she’s going to ‘drop you’, she doesn’t want a journalist who doesn’t keep his mouth shut, as a friend.”
One user added: “Piers….stop talking about Meghan. We get it….she never returned your call. Please find new material.”
Another said: “I wish Piers Morgan would shut the **** up about Meghan Markle. The mans obsessed with her, gosh I find it so hard to understand why she dropped you out her life.”
Mr Morgan unleashed a furious rant against the Duchess of Sussex during an interview with Deborah Knight on Australia’s Today Show, saying the Duchess uses others to get to the top.
When Ms Knight asked “is Meghan really fake and a piece of work as I know you’ve said before?”
Mr Morgan replied: “You know what I’m sorry to have to say I’m afraid I think she is.
“Although some people really like her and are falling for this act I’m afraid I see a bit of hard-nosed actress.
“She’s been using people on her way up to what is now, of course, the top, which is marrying into the royal family.”
Mr Morgan said he first met the Duchess in 2016 when she travelled to London, and the pair had drinks at his local pub.
After meeting the presenter, Meghan went to a party where she met her husband, Prince Harry.
Meghan allegedly “ghosted” Mr Morgan after that night, and failed to return his calls or texts.
Speaking about the time, he said: “I got to know her quite well over two year period. We would message each other a lot, e-mail a lot.
“I had a couple of pints of real ale and she had dirty martinis.
“She said afterwards in the cab ‘I had a great time. Love to see you again.’ It was purely platonic I hasten to add.
“She went in that cab that night to a party Prince Harry was at and the next night she went on the date with him. I never heard from her again. Ever.
“I don’t like people that behave like that. It’s kind of rude. It showed me that she, I’m afraid, is probably a bit of social climber.”
Mr Morgan warned Harry about Meghan, and said: “Good luck to Harry. I hope he knows what he’s doing. If it all goes wrong don’t come try crying to me. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
He made similar comments against the Duchess in December last year, saying she was a “piece of work” and used people for her own benefit.
Presenting ITV’s Good Morning Britain, he said: “So my experience wasn’t great, I’ve got to be honest with you. And everything I’ve seen since does slightly smack of an actress, a Hollywood actress, seizing her chance and acting her way to the top.”
