Meghan Markle received birthday wishes from royal family members and fans across the globe as she turned 38 yesterday. Her husband Prince Harry  was among those to wish the Duchess of Sussex a happy birthday on Instagram. The post published on the couple’s Sussex Royal account reveals just how much Meghan has rubbed off on Harry.

The big day was also the Duchess’s first birthday as a mother and she spent it with Prince Harry and their son Archie Harrison.

Meghan opted for a low-key day with family over a big birthday blow-out and, in traditional royal style, a new picture of the Duchess was shared to mark the milestone.

Royal fans were delighted to see a beautiful new picture of Meghan shared on her and Harry’s Sussex Royal Instagram account.

The photo shows the Duchess beaming in a bright blue dress and appears to have been taken during her and Harry’s visit to Tonga – when she was photographed in the same dress- in October last year.

The Sussex Royal comment which accompanied the photo contained an adorable message from Prince Harry.

The post read: “Wishing HRH The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday

“‘Happy Birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!’ – Love, H.”

Harry’s signature ‘H’ seems to reveal just how much Meghan has rubbed off on him.

The Duchess, who used to be a part-time calligrapher and ran lifestyle blog The Tig is well known for using the moniker ‘M’ as her sign off.

In September’s issue of British Vogue, which Meghan guest-edited, editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful, touches on her unique signature.

Describing how Meghan first made contact with him, Mr Enninful wrote: “ I was spending a few days in the Austrian mountains when a message arrived in my inbox out of the blue.

“The sender was by the simplest of monikers -“M”- and for that second I was confused, wondering who this mysterious, one-lettered correspondent could possibly be.”

Prince Harry’s birthday message to his “amazing wife” suggests that he too was rather taken by Meghan’s one-lettered sign off as has decided to follow suit.

Prince Harry’s decision to sign-off with ‘H’ rather than using his full name, in Meghan’s clearly mirrors Meghan’s use of a simple ‘M’ signature.

Last week Meghan and Harry unfollowed all Instagram accounts from their Sussex Royal profile and asked fans to recommend which worthy causes they would like the couple to follow during the month of August.

The move came off the back of Meghan Markle’s “Forces for Change” Vogue issue in which the guest-editor duchess championed 15 “trailblazing” women.
