Meghan Markle news: Meghan seeks friend for ‘incredible bond’ with Archie – SHOCK choice

Meghan Markle looked besotted with son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor in a touching black and white photo released for his christening this weekend. The royal mum looked the picture of contentment as she lovingly rested her chin on little Archie’s face as Prince Harry gazed at his son. The picture was released to mark the key milestone in the royal baby’s life. Keen for her son to blossom to at an early age, Meghan has already made plans for Archie to form a close bond with a playmate.

As Archie is only eight weeks old, the most obvious choice for a little buddy would probably be Prince Louis.

Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest son is a little more than 12 months older than his baby cousin.

But it has emerged Meghan has a completely different companion in mind altogether – a four-legged friend to be precise.

Who is the best friend Meghan wants for Archie?

Meghan plans on getting Archie a rescue dog from an animal shelter close to where she lives in Windsor, according to The Sun.

A royal source told the publication: “Meghan really wants a dog with whom Archie can associate his childhood.

“She hopes they strike up an incredible bond and Archie can make plenty of memories.”

The idea was said to be suggested by Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who has been staying with her daughter for her grandson’s christening.

Meghan is a devout dog lover and became the first royal patron of animal welfare charity Mayhew in February.

She and Harry have a rescue beagle of their own named Guy.

During a visit to Mayhew in January, Meghan was asked whether she might want to take home Jack Russell Minnie after being seen giving him a cuddle.

She said: “We can’t take another dog before the baby. Our hands are full.”

But with Archie now here – and Meghan and Harry’s £2.4 million home renovation finished – summer might be the perfect time for another pooch.

Meghan has already spoken of her sadness in having to leave behind her beloved Labrador-German Shepherd rescue dog, Bogard, when she moved to the UK.

He was thought to be too old to make the trans-Atlantic journey from her then-home in Toronto.

The Duchess will not be short of choices in making her selection.

There are plenty of animal rescue charities in Windsor including a local branch of the world-famous Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
