Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have hinted at a refusal to create another Instagram account after their old royal one shut down. This comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a couple of key hires for their Archewell foundation. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie discussed their hopes of new social media being made for the charity, but admitted that this may be unlikely.
Ms Fiorito told listeners: “So these new hires are going to oversee a strategy for Archewell.
“It also noted in the articles I read that they will be working on future production projects for the Sussexes and other personal ventures too.
“So I hope that the top of their agenda when they meet is Instagram 2.0, and the launch of that for Archewell.
“Although I am curious regarding Instagram just because Meghan said at the Fortune Summit that she, personally, is over it.”
Ms Bowie added: “I’m curious if they will head back to that platform for their Archewell venture, or if they’re going to stay away.
“Their kind of crusade against social media would not play well into this.
“Having their brand be social-first would feel a little odd.
“That will be so interesting to see what they do with that.”
The Duchess of Sussex had made her comments about social media while speaking at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Next Gen Virtual Summit.
She had said: “People who are addicted to drugs are called users and people who are on social media are called users.”
She also warned that the “obsession” with the online world was “very unhealthy for a lot of people”.

Archewell is the Sussexes’ new charitable organisation.
It was announced after they officially stepped down as senior working royals at the end of March.
It aims to focus on issues they care about, including conservation, female empowerment, and gender equality.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the couple decided to delay the full launch, writing: “Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon.
“We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right.”
