Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, ceased to be senior royals in March and appear to be enjoying the freedom of expression their new status permits. Since stepping down from her royal role Meghan has voiced her political stance on current issues in the USA in a manner which suggests her wish to “be a Democratic Party candidate at some point in the future”, a royal expert has claimed.
Addressing a serious of powerful speeches delivered by the Duchess of Sussex to large audiences in recent weeks, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Meghan has always been an activist since she successfully campaigned against a sexist advertisement when she was 11.
“In 2015 she made a memorable speech on gender equality to the United Nations Women’s Conference.
“Recently she gave a superb speech by video link to those graduating from the school she attended.
“She and Harry in their capacities as President and Vice-President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust spoke forcefully about confronting the past of the institution but, sadly, without stressing its positive aspects.”

He added: “Her speech by video link to the UN sponsored leadership campaign, Girl Up, was intended to inspire her audience.
“It was about organising to change things radically, alter power structures and not only have a debate about equality but be in charge of it.
“She urged her audience to challenge the norms saying we were on the ‘precipice of transformation’ at the moment and stressing how mutually beneficial true equality can be.
“Quoting the Dalai Lama who said ‘compassion is the radicalism of our time’, this was also a call to activism in several areas, support for Black Lives Matter, reform of the criminal justice system, more resources to tackle mental health issues and helping end gun violence.”
Meghan and Prince Harry relocated to Los Angeles with their son Archie Harrison, one, in March and are expected to remain there for the forseeable future.
According to Mr Fitzwilliams, Meghan could be readying herself to enter the political sphere.
The royal commentator even suggested she could “intervene in the forthcoming Presidential Election.”
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “There is no doubt whatever that this is the sort of speech that would fit perfectly if aimed at a political audience.”

He added: “There has always been speculation that this area attracted her, this has fuelled these rumours and as I listened to the speech I thought that it might well be a rehearsal for others on a far bigger stage.”
Mr Fitzwilliams believes Meghan has the skills and public profile to become a Democratic candidate.
He said: “She has the talents and the experience in the public eye to be a Democratic Party candidate at some point in the future.
“She might intervene in the forthcoming Presidential Election.”
Mr Fitzwilliams added: “Her status as a royal has given her a huge global profile.
“She might well use it to further her message and help shape the debate in the corridors of power herself.”
Working members of the Royal Family are not meant to express their political opinions.
While Meghan and Harry’s exit deal with the Queen is due to be reviewed in a year’s time, if Meghan does enter politics then a way back into the Royal Family will be off the cards.
