The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be relocating to Australia, just like his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, did for a brief period after her engagement to Prince Charles, a source has claimed. Speaking to Woman’s Day, a source said the Duke of Sussex may be interested in buying an Australian beach house.

According to the source, the Duchess of Sussex was “shocked” at Harry’s confession that he was interested in buying property in Australia.

Speaking to Woman’s Day, the source said: “Harry has a soft spot for Australia and given that his mum spent such precious private time here, it’s no surprise he’d feel a calling to it and will want to search out what sounds like was once his mum’s spiritual home.

“Meghan was very shocked at first – and she wasn’t impressed that he went behind her back and did it – but she too would love to get her hands on something that was Diana’s… even if it makes William furious!”

Back in 1981, Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, took some time away from the UK before Prince Charles officialise the news of their engagement.

She secretly flew to Australia in order to think about her decision and if she truly wanted to become a queen in the future.

According to Aussie royal expert Judy Wade, Diana stayed at her mum Frances Shand Kydd’s Mollymook beach hideout.

During her time there, she used to go surfing and swimming in complete anonymity.

In her book Diana: The Intimate Portrait, Ms Wade wrote: “Frances rented a beach house tucked away among tall gum trees overlooking the beach.”

The author described the house as a “modern, dark-stained timber beach house, situated at the end of a winding dirt track, which made it invisible from the road”.

The news comes after Prince Harry recently offered the latest update on his upcoming Netflix documentary Rising Phoenix.

He did so during a video call with athletes who feature in the documentary including Tatyana McFadden and Matt Stutzman, Bebe Vio, Jean-Baptiste Alaize and Ntando Mahlangu.

In the video conference, Harry said the new Netflix production aims to end “stereotyping and preconceptions” in Paralympic sports.

He said in light of the struggles posed by current crises like the coronavirus pandemic, stories of resilience like Rising Phoenix should be highlighted more.

The Duke stressed that such stories should be shared more “to try and get rid of the stereotyping to get rid of those preconceptions.”

He added: “My biggest hope is that people will watch this film and go ‘No matter how hard my life is, no matter how hard a day or a week can be, this what I aspire to, not just for me but for my family and all the loved ones around me.’

“It is that element that I think will end up changing the world, so well done and thank you very much.”

Describing the importance of sport in people’s lives in a trailer for the documentary, Harry said: “There isn’t anything else in the world that can bring you back from the darkest places than sport.

“Yes, lives are being changed on the track.

“But lives are also being changed in the stands.”

A description for the documentary claims it “tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games.”

It said: “From the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet, the Paralympics sparked a global movement which continues to change the way the world thinks about disability, diversity & human potential”.

Prince Harry has reportedly has been involved in the Netflix production since its early days.
