Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, have kept a relatively low profile since stepping down from royal life but the couple’s extraordinary departure from the Royal Family has inspired a flurry of new biographies.
Just weeks after publisher HarperCollins revealed it had acquired the rights for Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family by royal journalist Omid Scobie and producer Carolyn Durand another book about Meghan has been announced.
Celebrity author Sean Smith has penned a string of biographies of high profile figures including Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Kim Kardashian and has now turned his attention to Meghan with a new book titled ‘Meghan: Misunderstood.’
HarperCollins has also picked up the rights to this second Meghan biography that promises to “pull no punches” and to set “the record straight on the most talked about, unfairly vilified and misrepresented woman in the world.”
Smith explained he was inspired to write the book after watching ITV documentary Meghan & Harry: An African journey last year.

Smith said: “Last November, I watched the TV documentary in which Meghan Markle confided it was not enough to survive something, that was not the point of life.
“I immediately wanted to know how it had come to this: why was the most charismatic member of the Royal Family clearly so upset? Meghan Misunderstood is her story, her amazing journey.”
A press release on the Harpers Collins website details how the Duchess of Sussex had an “extraordinarily accomplished life” before marrying Prince Harry.
The book seeks to delve into the “rom-com fantasy” of Meghan and Harry’s relationship, as well shedding light on the “disturbing drama” which followed their joyful wedding in May 2018.
The press release reads: “Meghan’s wedding to Harry was a joyful occasion, marking happiness at last for the Queen’s grandson who had captured our hearts twenty years earlier when he bravely walked behind his mother Diana’s coffin.
“Theirs was a story that the screenwriters of Hollywood – where Meghan had made her name – could scarcely have imagined.
“The rom-com fantasy, however, soon turned into disturbing drama: any expectation of a life happily-ever-after was cruelly dashed by bullying tabloid newspapers and their allies, both on social media and within the walls of the Palace itself.
The release adds: “Now, Sean Smith, the UK’s leading celebrity biographer, pulls no punches as he reveals the remarkable and powerful story of this self-made, intelligent American woman with a strong social conscience who has made such an impact on our lives.”

According to HarperCollins Australia website, the book will be published on November 12, 2020.
Meghan and Harry have been based in Los Angeles with their son Archie Harrison since March and are likely to remain there for the foreseeable future.
While the couple had hoped to launch their new venture Archewell soon after their royal step down it is understood the project is on hold as the couple focus on more immediate global issues.
According to insiders, the couple are currently focusing their energies on helping those struggling amid the pandemic and lending their support to the Black Lives Matter movement.
One source told the Telegraph: “What’s absolutely clear is that they want to get it right and there’s no point in rushing.
“They are settling into a new life, a new era.
“This is about getting it right and making sure they are able to make the difference they want to make.”
The couple revealed ‘Archewell’ would be the name of their new project in May.
A Sussex spokesman shared the following statement about Archewell with the Telegraph: “Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global COVID-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be.”
“Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of ‘Arche’—the Greek word meaning ‘source of action.’
“We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name.”
