The Duke and Duchess of Sussex applied to have their charitable organisation Archewell Foundation and their production company Archewell Audio protected by company law in America. The documents filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office reveal they could pursue wide-ranging projects in the future – including live stage performances, live music performances and live podcast performances.

The revelation comes as Harry and Meghan’s trademark bid has been set back, the Daily Mail reports.

The Sussexes have been told their applications need clarification before they are successful.

In their application for Archewell Audio, the couple said the firm was for the “creation, development, production and distribution of podcasts, audio programmes, music, and audio books”.

The office replied: “Applicant must clarify that these are entertainment-based services.”

The application said the company would create: “Live podcast performances, live stage performances, live music performances, and live audio-book readings.”

But again, the office responded: “Applicant must clarify these are entertainment-based services.”

It also said they needed to “specify the nature of the ‘live stage performances”.

And for their Archewell Foundation application, the Sussexes have been asked to give more details on the web apps they hope to provide.

Harry and Meghan have six months to respond from June 25 or both applications will be binned.

The Sussexes have been very busy since stepping down as working royals in March 2020.

They have signed a lucrative deal with Netflix to make shows for the streaming service.
