Prince Harry broke from 'royal tradition' with Meghan says expert

Meghan Markle appeared to be one of the key reasons Prince Harry initially began breaking royal protocol according to the Royal Family. Royal expert Charlie Lankston insisted that the Royal Family believed Prince Harry began to act out against the institution when he began dating Meghan. While speaking to Access Online, Ms Lankston highlighted Harry breaking tradition to release press releases on the media coverage of his wife and their treatment of her.

She argued from this point onwards Harry continued to rebel until he and Meghan decided to step away entirely from their duties as senior royals.

Ms Lankston said: “Prince Harry really did break from Royal traditions from the very start of his relationship with Meghan Markle.

“He issued a press release in the very early days insisting the media leave Meghan alone.

“He accused the media of writing really negative stories about her.

“This is something that we are really not used to seeing from members of the Royal Family.

“That really was the first sign that Harry was pushing back against those traditions he had followed for his entire life.”

The Royal expert insisted that from this point Harry continued to rebel against the institution.

She continued: “From there, more and more evidence of Harry’s desire to break away came forward.

“I think a lot of the members of the Royal Family attributed that to his relationship with Meghan.

“Things between Meghan and William were never particularly friendly, they were never the best of friends.

The Royal expert insisted that from this point Harry continued to rebel against the institution.

She continued: “From there, more and more evidence of Harry’s desire to break away came forward.

“I think a lot of the members of the Royal Family attributed that to his relationship with Meghan.”

Ms Lankston also discussed Meghan’s relationship with the rest of the Royal Family.

She said: “Things between Meghan and William were never particularly friendly, they were never the best of friends.

“Then on top of that Meghan and Kate never bonded and formed a close relationship.

“Meghan didn’t really ingratiate herself with William and Kate.

“Similarly they were not willing to 100 percent accept her into their family.

“Obviously, as we all now know, things really snowballed from there.”
