Meghan Markle given more ‘help’ when adapting to royal ‘protocol’ than Diana – shock claim

Meghan Markle has been given more “help” when settling into the Royal Family than was made available to Princess Diana, an expert has claimed. Speaking to Express.co.uk, Angela Levin, author of ‘Harry: Conversations with the Prince’ claimed Princess Diana found adapting to the Royal Family “difficult”. The royal author made the comparison between Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and Princess Diana, as she commented on how the pair adjusted to protocol when joining the family.

She said: “I don’t know about how the Queen feels about some of the protocol that Meghan is either ignoring or doesn’t know and is not getting involved with.

“But, some of it is quite important, because, although it is old fashioned, this is what the British family is like.

“I don’t think the Queen would like much of Meghan speaking out about her political views, because the royal’s are not supposed to do that.

“But, then again it is very early days, and it is so difficult to settle down in the Royal Family, as late Princess Diana found it very difficult.

You’re not really helped very much, Meghan has been helped more

“You’re not really helped very much, Meghan has been helped more. But, it is a very difficult family to settle into.”

Princess Diana was married to Prince Charles from 1981 to 1996. She was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

During the interview, Ms Levin, who has just added new chapters to her Prince Harry book, also claimed the Queen’s priority when Harry met Meghan, was for her grandson to be “happy”.

Ms Levin also noted when Meghan made the Queen “roar” with laughter, claiming it was quite “unusual” for Her Majesty to do so when “on duty”.

But, speaking about the Queen’s relationship with Meghan, the royal author said: “She must feel quite relaxed with her. I expect she is still getting to know her.”

The Duchess of Sussex was seen publicly over the weekend for the first time since she presented her and Prince Harry’s newborn son, Archie Harrison, to the world earlier last month.

Meghan attended the Trooping the Colour event last weekend to mark the Queen’s official birthday, despite her actual birthday landing on April 21, and is a celebration in honour of the monarch which the public can enjoy.

During the Trooping The Colour celebrations, the Queen was paraded down the Mall to Buckingham Palace before watching the Red Arrows fly overhead. She was escorted by members of the Household Cavalry.

Despite taking a break from her maternity leave for the Trooping The Colour celebration last weekend, the Duchess of Sussex has been criticised for not meeting with US President Donald Trump.

TV presenter Piers Morgan claimed the behaviour of the Duchess of Sussex was “unacceptable”, suggesting the new mum was “deliberately avoiding” the US President.

Writing in his MailOnline column, he wrote: “I’m sorry, but bunking off at home is simply not an option for ANY senior member of the Royal Family.

“By doing so, she was not just giving the metaphorical bird to Trump, as she would have most definitely wanted to do, she was giving it to his host the Queen, her country who he is representing and the country whom she now represents.”

Some reports had suggested Meghan struggled to leave her baby at home as she attended the Trooping the Colour event on Saturday.

US President Mr Trump travelled to the UK last week, but, before his trip sparked fury after he suggested the Duchess of Sussex was “nasty”.

In a later interview with TV host Mr Morgan, the US President insisted he was referring to comments he was told she had made.

He said: “They said some of the things that she said and it’s actually on tape. And I said: ‘Well, I didn’t know she was nasty’. I wasn’t referring to she’s nasty.

“I said she was nasty about me. And essentially I didn’t know she was nasty about me. You know what? She’s doing a good job, I hope she enjoys her life. I think she’s very nice.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their firstborn son into the world on May 6.

Baby Archie remains out of the spotlight and if recent royal births are anything to follow, it could be a while until Baby Sussex’s next public appearance, with his christening likely to be the next sighting.
