The Duke of Cambridge seemed in high spirits as he supported England during the Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday. Prince William, who looked dapper in a suit, could be seen applauding from the stands as he cheered on Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions. Celebrating the victory, he wrote on Twitter: “What a game, what a result!

“A huge team effort England.

“The whole country will be behind you on Sunday #ItsComingHome.”

England will now face Italy in the final after the Azzurri beat Spain on penalties on Tuesday.

The Duke is expected to attend the match once again.

Across the pond, his brother, Prince Harry, has been extremely quiet about his country making history, though.

Harry, his wife Meghan Markle and their two children Archie and Lilibet now live in California, US and tensions have been high following the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It is not clear whether he and his wife are even following the European championships.

Meghan used to be a football supporter, though.

In 2018, it was disclosed the soon-to-be-Duchess was a big fan of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and then-Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The former Suits actress reportedly followed England captain Kane on Twitter, despite Prince Harry’s love for Arsenal – Tottenham’s bitter rivals.

Belgian stopper Courtois was another player who had caught the eye of Meghan.

SunSport contacted Kensington Palace to find out why she had decided to keep tabs on Kane and Courtois on social media.

However, almost immediately afterwards her social media accounts got taken down, which had remained open throughout her courtship with Prince Harry.

Kane was one of three Premier League players the former Suits star followed, The Sun reported.

Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois was also on the list, along with Stoke defender Geoff Cameron.

The majority of people Meghan followed on Twitter were reportedly friends, fellow celebrities and politicians in the States.

Neither Kane or Courtois are big names outside of football in America, so Meghan following the pair was seen as a big clue as to where her loyalties lied on the pitch.

Not much is known about Queen Elizabeth II and football, either.

In his 2016 autobiography “Mission & Passion Fussball”, though, Sepp Blatter, the disgraced former president of Fifa, compiled a top 10 list of heads of state with the greatest football expertise.

The Queen was ranked fifth, beating former Italian Prime Minister and AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi.

Mr Berlusconi oversaw five of Milan’s seven Champions League triumphs after he took over the Rossoneri back in 1986.

However, Mr Blatter claimed the Queen’s ability to recognise him at a Buckingham Palace reception in 2004 – as part of Fifa’s centenary celebrations – put her above the controversial Italian.

The ex-Fifa president told Sky Sports News of his meeting with the Queen: “She saw me and said, ‘I know you, you are the man of football.’

“She is une grande dame, a ready lady.”
