Meghan Markle has decided against returning to her acting career and will instead dedicate her time to producing and working behind-the-scenes for her upcoming projects with Netflix. Reed Hastings, the co-CEO of the streaming giant, said both Meghan and Prince Harry vead a “great eye for story” and would be working with Netflix in a producer role capacity.
Access Hollywood reported: “When the couple’s Netflix deal was announced, many fans were curious if Meghan would return to her acting roots but don’t get your hopes up.
“Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings squashed those rumours in an interview with CNBC where he says the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are more focused on producing.”
During the interview, Reed Hastings said: “You know the real focus for them is on being producers and on building that production capacity so that’s the key thing.
“You know, they’ve developed a great eye for story and we’ll be working with them on that basis.”
Meghan Markle achieved initial fame through her role as Rachel Zane, one of the main characters in the successful American legal drama Suits.
She played the protagonist Michael Ross’s primary love interest from 2011-2018.
While working on Suits, it was estimated that she earnt $50,000 per episode and resided in Toronto for nine months of each year for filming.
Before appearing on the successful hit drama, she played a range of small roles, which included appearances on 90210, Horrible Bosses and CSI:Miami.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their multi-million-pound deal with Netflix in September 2020.
Estimated to be worth £100million, the couple will be producing informative and uplifting content through their own production company, Archewell.
Meghan recently announced her first project with the streaming giant, an animated children’s series called Pearl.
It will follow the ‘heroic adventures’ of a 12-year-old girl who interacts with influential women throughout history.

Both Meghan Markle and David Furnish, the husband of close friend Elton John, will executive produce the series.
The announcement comes after Prince Harry revealed his first project with Netflix back in April.
He will be producing a docu-series titled Heart of Invictus, which will follow competitors and organisers for the 2022 Invictus Games which will take place in The Hague, Netherlands.
Prince Harry established the paralympic-style tournament in 2014 for wounded veterans and acting servicemen and women.
The couple have also signed a deal worth an estimated £30million with Spotify, to produce a range of podcasts and audio content.
Aside from a one-off Holiday Special, they are yet to release or announce a project for the audio streaming service.
