Meghan Markle ‘continuously nagged’ ex-husband in bid to raise profile

Before Meghan met Prince Harry, she was in a nearly decade-long relationship with a talent agent and film producer, who she lived with in Los Angeles. They met in West Hollywood in 2004 and tied the knot seven years later in 2011. During her early acting career, Meghan was struggling to get roles and used to nag her then-boyfriend to cast her in one of his films, according to 2018 book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton asserted that it became a “source of conflict” for the couple.

He wrote: “During Meghan’s time on Deal or No Deal, Trevor had a film in production, a marital comedy ‘Licence to Wed’ starring funny man Robin Williams and Mandy Moore.

“Meghan secretly hoped there would be a role for her but the bit-parts that might have suited her went out to more experienced actresses who had worked with the director Ken Kwapis on the TV series The Office.

“It was to become a source of conflict between the couple, Meghan becoming disappointed that Trevor didn’t try harder to include her in some of his productions.”

Trevor was always reading various scripts and worked hard for his clients, but did not use his position to get Meghan any jobs at first.

However, as time went on and he became more successful, he was able to dish out “a few crumbs” to her.

For example, she was cast as the secretary in a short film called The Candidate and later as a small role in Trevor’s biggest hit to date, the 2010 film Remember Me starring Robert Pattinson.

The film, a 9/11-themed melodrama, was a critics and box office hit.

As Trevor was rising up, Meghan was yet to have her big break and had to be content with her partner getting all the plaudits.

Mr Morton added: “Meghan did her best to shine as the beautiful, talented, as well as supportive girlfriend of a bona fide mover and shaker, who could now afford to give Meghan a few crumbs from his groaning pile of scripts.

“At least it would stop her continuously nagging him to give her a part in one of his productions.”

Meanwhile, Trevor was named by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the Top 35 Under 35 in the Next Gen class of 2009 for his work as a manager and producer.

As part of the honour, he was also invited to a party at My House, an exclusive Hollywood club, famous for its red ropes and bottle service.

However, eventually Meghan landed a role in the legal drama Suits and suddenly her success went through the roof.

Sadly for the couple, their relationship did not work out.

Meghan and Trevor separated after 18 months of marriage and finalised their divorce in August 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.

Less than three years later, Meghan met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.

They reportedly fell in love while in Botswana, which is also where Harry decided to pop the question in the autumn of 2017.

They married in May 2018 and had their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, last year.

Last month, the pair announced that they would be stepping down as senior royals and have since moved to Canada.

Meanwhile, Trevor has also moved on, marrying dietician Tracey Kurland last year.

In 2018, Trevor was reportedly starting work on a fictional drama for Fox Broadcasting about a British prince, but it is not clear what happened to this production.
