Meghan Markle BOMBSHELL: Royal baby could boost economy by £1.25 BILLION says expert

Meghan gave birth to her son with Prince Harry on May 6. Two days later the boy was named Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. As a result of his diverse heritage the new Royal holds both UK and US citizenship.

Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the Centre for Retail Research, claimed the baby could give the economy a £1.25bn windfall over a two-year period.

The professor made the claim to Mail Online earlier this year, before the latest Royal was born.

Explaining his prediction he asserted: “Meghan and Harry are an attractive couple and their child will naturally be of great public interest across the world.

“Meghan is known to have a keen sense of style and she will want to follow a distinctive line in baby products, shawls, baskets, infant clothes and even what toys are being used by her child.

“As the child gets older, what he or she wears will be adopted by many other parents, photographed thousands of times and shared around the world.”

There is speculation the birth will lead to a dramatic increase in spending on children clothing, toys and other accessories.

A number of outfits worn by Prince George, born in 2013, saw dramatic increases in sales.

Shortly after his birth the new Royal was pictured outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, wrapped in bird-print Aden + Anais muslin cloth.

Within a matter of days the designer reported a 600 percent increase in sales.

Prince George was later pictured in a navy John Lewis anorak as he attended nursery for the first time.

According to the department store demand for the coat increased by nearly 450 percent in the immediate aftermath.

There is speculation Meghan could use the popularity of her new child to promote brands with values she approves of.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph Estelle Lee, former editor of parent focused magazine Smallish, asserted: “Meghan will be acutely sensitive to the tidal wave effect any brand patronage will have once it comes to kitting out her baby’s wardrobe.

“I would expect the Duchess to utilise this to good ends, supporting the kind of childrenswear brands aligned with her own philanthropy and refined style.”
