Meghan Markle birthday: How Duchess shares this incredible birthday link with Queen
Meghan Markle’s birthday is on August 4 and she will celebrate turning 38 tomorrow. The Duchess of Sussex shares her birthday month with a string of other royal family members and has the same birthday as one very important Queen. This is Meghan’s incredible royal birthday link revealed.
Meghan Markle was born on August 4, 1981, and shares a birthday with the late Queen Mother.
The Queen Mother and late Queen Consort, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon was born on August 4, 1900 – precisely 81 years before Meghan.
While the Duchess of Sussex and Queen Elizabeth II’s mother never met it is a touching coincidence that they share the same birthday.
Harry’s great grandmother lived to an incredible 101-years-old and held an important royal role for decades.
Royal biographer William Shawcross said of the Queen Mother that she was “throughout her life, filled with optimism, a sense of duty matched only by a sense of fun – and her appreciation of the value of a restorative drink.
“She had a consuming interest in other people, a deep love of God and a total commitment to Britain and the Commonwealth.
“She grew up principally in the countryside and was always happiest there; her interest in her prize sheep and cattle, and her corgis, was enduring, and she adored horse racing.”
“She loved traditions but to the end of her life she was fascinated by young people with whom she surrounded herself.
“Best of all, she expressed all of these passions, and many more, in a stream of remarkably vivid and beautifully written letters to her family and friends.
“These show that the open, happy personality that people remember with such pleasure was with her from the start.”
As Prince Harry’s wife Meghan will unlikely ever have to follow in the Queen Mother’s footsteps and assume the role of Queen Consort.
Harry is third in line to the British throne after his father Prince Charles and older brother Prince William.
While the Queen Mother had to support both her husband as king and prepare her daughter to accede the throne, Meghan may be able to take a step back from the royal spotlight.
Meghan and Harry have both made their wish to raise their son Archie outside the royal bubble very clear.
However, the Queen mother probably never expected to become Queen Consort either, as she only had to assume her senior role following Edward VIII’s shock abdication.
Meghan and the late Queen Mother aren’t the only royals to have August birthdays.
Princess Anne (August 15) and Princess Beatrice (August 8) also have their birthdays this month.
Meghan is expected to spend a quiet day at Frogmore Cottage with Harry and Archie instead of having a lavish birthday party this year.
