Meghan Markle baby: When will we see baby Archie again in public? Will he be christened?

Royal fans desperate for more sneak peeks at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son are set to be disappointed after royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam claimed the next set of photos of the baby boy may not happen until his christening. Queen Elizabeth II’s eighth great grandchild Archie Harrison was shown off to the world by his “overjoyed” parents on Wednesday in Windsor, just two days after he was born. But when will royal fans across the world get another glimpse of this little bundle of joy?

Speaking to Fabulous Digital, Mr Fitzwilliam said the innovative couple who have been known to break royal protocol are difficult to predict.

The couple have taken to using their own social media accounts to share important news, events and images rather than conduct traditional interviews and photocalls.

On Sunday, another picture of baby Archie was posted via the @sussexroyal account.

The photograph was an adorable shot of the seventh in line to the throne’s feet in his mother’s hand.

The caption revealed the photograph was in honour of mother’s everywhere, as the USA celebrate Mother’s Day on May 12.

The post said: “Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered.

“We honour and celebrate each and every one of you.

“Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan and several countries across Europe.

“This is the first Mother’s Day for the Duchess of Sussex.”

The surprise photograph was another example of how the young couple are rewriting the royal rule book and it might be likely they will shock the world with other photographs before his christening.

It is possible the young couple will follow in the footsteps of Prince William and Kate Middleton who released official portraits of all three of their children after they were born.

Prince George’s photograph was released a month after his birth in July 2013 and was taken by his grandfather Michael Middleton.

The pictures were taken in the garden of the Middleton family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire and featured the royal couple, Prince George and their black cocker spaniel Lupo.

Princess Charlotte’s first official photographs were also published around a month after she was born on May 2 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

The four photographs of the new princess and her big brother were taken by Kate around two weeks after Charlotte was born at Anmer Hall, the couple’s Norfolk country home.

For the couple’s third child Prince Louis, the Duchess of Cambridge got behind the lens again and shared a photograph of Prince Charlotte kissing her baby brother’s forehead which she had taken.

The image was taken on May 2, 2018, which was Princess Charlotte’s third birthday.

But, Mr Fitzwilliam believes the new royal baby’s privacy will be “fiercely guarded” and images of him will be scarce.

He added it is likely periodic photographs on special days such as birthdays might be the only images shared of the infant.

He said the new official event is likely to be Master Archie’s christening – and that is if the couple decides not to keep the event a private affair.

Typically, royal baby christenings have taken place two to three months after the birth of the child.

This means the christening is likely to take place in the early summer, before the Queen travels to Scotland for her break at Balmoral.

But, it is also possible it may occur after the Queen has left.

She did not attend the christening of Prince Louis last year.

Archie Harrison may follow in his father’s footsteps and be christened in St George’s Chapel, which was also the spot where his mother and father were married.

While there has been no confirmation whether there are plans for a christening or not, there are a number of signs that suggest the royal baby will be baptised.

For one, Queen Elizabeth II is the head of the Church of England.

Before Meghan and Harry married, Meghan is said to have been baptised into the Church of England in a private ceremony.

The parents tried to keep the final days of the pregnancy and the birth of baby Archie as private as possible, with the news of his birth announced hours after the infant had been born.

The Sun’s royal correspondent Emily Andrews agreed it is unlikely the royal will be seen until his christening in the summer.

She said: “Harry and Meghan may decide to issue some more pictures before then, perhaps from the shoot they did with their wedding photographer Chris Allerton, but that would be unlikely.

“They’ve made it clear they want some family private time, which is totally normal and understandable.”
